Studs
Cufflinks and shirt and waistcoat studs came into fashion in the 1840s. Since then studs have been worn primarily with dinner dress. Stud boxes were particularly popular in the late nineteenth and early twentieth-centuries and in the UK were traditionally gifted to young men on their twenty-first birthday.
